Semester 1 ended on a high in 1MH with our Chinese New Year concert. I hope you all enjoyed watching the children perform as much as we enjoyed performing for you.
ICT and UOI
This week we began exploring expressing characters using ICT. We used an app called KidEdu to create posters of either a good or a bad character. We needed to search for the character then resize accordingly. After this we typed in several words to describe the characters’ traits such as mean, scary, friendly or helpful etc. Finally we selected a background pattern or colour to compliment our poster. Take a look at our work below.
PE / Music / Homeroom combined activity
On Wednesday we had a wonderful afternoon when the whole of Grade 1 joined with the PE and music teachers to explore how we can express ourselves through music, movement and dance. We began with a warm up song called ‘Penguins’ before moving onto a dance and freeze activity designed to help us listen to instructions and respond quickly. Finally we focused on a rap of Little Red Riding Hood where we put actions to dramatise the song. This was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed the afternoon – although we were very tired afterwards!
I have included lots of photos and some short videos – some of the photos are a bit blurred as the children were moving around!!
Goodbye Sarah and Andy
We had a sad end to the week when we had to say goodbye to our friends Sarah and Andy. Sarah left us on Thursday as she and her family are moving to another part of China. Andy left on Friday and will be moving back to America with his family. We wish them both much happiness in their new homes. Take care both of you, we will miss you xx
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and prosperous Year of the Pig. Happy Chinese New Year!
