Student’s Reflection

Student’s Reflection

We have one more week until we have our final assessment session for swimming. We invite all parents to come along to this session and see how much progress your child has made. It will be a busy session as some students will be proficient across several aspects of different levels. The assessment session is the culmination of our new rotation system in swimming and we are pleased with what we have seen.

Attached above this blog post is a sample of 2 student reflection sheets that demonstrate some of their thinking, coaches feedback, and development along the way. We encourage all parents to discuss with your child about their own reflection/goal sheet and which levels they see themselves at; As well as come along to the final assessment session. We will send out more information about the assessment session next week.

ACAMIS Maths

ACAMIS Maths

Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you about the upcoming ACAMIS Math Quest and Rubik’s Cube competition in Qingdao. It will be held on Friday, April 26 and is hosted by Qingdao No. 1 International School of Shandong Province, Qingdao. This will be the 5th year SSIS has taken students to participate in this event.

This competition is open to students from grades 4, 5 & 6. We are planning to take 3 teams of 5 students from each of these grades. So 5 students from grade 5 will be invited to attend.

Given the limited placings, we will be conducting a mini-tournament this week with interested students to help determine team members and reserves. If your child makes the team, you will be notified to gauge your interest.

As this is an elective event, there is a cost involved. The estimated total cost based on previous years is approximately 2200RMB per child. This payment includes flights, hotel and registration costs. Other costs are covered by the school. More detailed information will be provided for invited students.

This is a great opportunity and an event in which previous participating students have had an amazing experience. We look forward to having another successful lead-up and trip in 2019.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email.

Kind regards,

Mr King
